This is Bob's favorite spot. I love it because it's perfect for photo bombing (which I do in moderation... Kind of) Image

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in that last picture it looks like there's a crab in a yellow painted shell, is it new? or am I just wrong lol

In my photo, with the kitty? Yeah I had a few w painted shells I was trying to get rid of. That's the last painted shell in the whole tank. It's an obnoxious yellow tweety- who the original owner discarded immediately, but I didn't take it out of the tank quick enough so some one else snatched it up

Mehhh, since I started crabbing in June I got over the panic/high expectation phase It seems a max of only 30% of my crabs will be seen at any given time. Pending putting the Ultratherm on a dimmer and calicrating my thermometer, I shall accept that for the norm and have to increase my number of crabs in order to see more crabs
I did see a whopping 3 out of 5, last night, for a very brief time! Other than that I'm keeping a tank of branches and mosspits

Haha I too am keeping a tank of moss pits and climbing things. Actually I'm keeping two tanks since 3 of my crabbies buried in the old tote. Only 1 of my 8 crabs has been out for the past week. I suspect 4-5 are actually down molting and 2-3 are in the pits moving around stealthily while I sleep. I also started in June but had them in tote (that I couldn't see through) so now that they're finally in a tank where I can look in on them I feel like a total newbie!

Haha I feel like a pro, with my tank all bubblin and high qual glass lids, nice lighting. But everytime ppl are so impressed w my tank, they ask me whats in it, i feel like a crazy person.
"It's a crab tank. O, you can't see any because they're all underground. I gotta keep food out for them in case they come up at night. Yea, they're alive, but they're nocturnal so... They do fun stuff, just at night."
If not for the HCA, nobody would understand Image That's why HCA is so great!!!! Image

Hahaha yeah the HCA does make me feel sane sometimes. I've had several people come over and ask if there is anything in my tank. It's always fun watching the "oh well that's kinda crazy but I need to be polite" look on their face. So thankful to find a place where people love their crabs like I do!
