What sort of toys do hermits like?

Where we discuss the behavior of our hermit crabs, as in fights, pecking orders, shell swaps, etc. Please post all naked-crab posts in the Emergency forum.

I find rocks from my back yard that are good size not to big not to small. (I boil them first before putting them in tank) my crabs love to climb and sleep on those

Darn. I guess hermit crab soccer won't be a thing anytime soon.

I'd think that marbles would be too slick for crabs to walk on but a few hera and there for decoration should be OK.

My husband is a golfer. He says they are plastic with a composite core. He says a large or bigger might be able to slowly shave off bits of the plastic. No paint, just colored plastic. He says to monitor it and see if there is any damage over time. Looks like I am going to raid his golf bag.
#1 rule of crabbing - crabs are weird.

As a hack golfer, I can most certainly assure you that golf balls readily sink in water. My golf balls seem to have a homing instinct to find the nearest body of water on the course! Too bad there are no hermit crabs at water hazards -- hunting for lost balls would be a lot more fun if there were crabs to find, too  !
