Do your crabs change what they are doing when they see you?

Where we discuss the behavior of our hermit crabs, as in fights, pecking orders, shell swaps, etc. Please post all naked-crab posts in the Emergency forum.

Yeah, sometimes they do. Hehe, Kirby usually gives me hints that he wants out & wants me to hold him! :D The other 2 get nervous sometimes (since they are new).

Man, I know -exactly- how that feels. I recently just started getting my crabbies salt water. I had just palced it in and checked on them a half hour later. Zipper was checking out the water, and I think drinking it, but the second I had walked in the water he turned and ran away to go hide.

Stinks =( I was really excited to see him. Not mutual though

I love my crabbies Otto, Zipper, Lil, and Stella.

My little guy, Roland, freezes when he sees any kind of motion other than the other crabs. The BFG is pretty much fearless, though. It takes a lot to make him pull in (once he even pinched my black lab's nose for coming too close!) The new little girl, Jenny, doesn't mind motion, but if you reach for her she literally HOPS backward. I mean, she flies! It's really cute to watch, even though I know she's scared. I guess it all depends on their personality.
