Haha, yep. He's also taken up to sleeping right next to Sheldon, not to mention on top of his shell, which seems to annoy him. Just last night he woke up, looked around, shoved Peanut over about two inches, then took his spot. Poor Peanut. Always being pushed around.

Derek (I think) finally found the hamster wheel in the new tank!! I don't think he's walked in it yet but it's a start.

Well, another one discovered the wheel and actually started walking it. He goes from front to back then back again. Kinda sideways.

He was still in the wheel this morning. I assume he's been in it all night. Is it possible he can't figure out how to get out? The log underneath is only in front of half the wheel. I saw him last night leaning put and feeling the air. Then went back in.

I'm really glad that another one of mine discovered the wheel, but he sleeps in it all day now. Lol. He's been in it for 2 days straight. Is that normal?

They can figure out how to get out. He'll be fine.

I've occasionally had two on at once, trying to go in opposite directions. One will get up to the top of the wheel while the other prevents any momentum, then when the lower one stops moving the top one falls. It is a very silly display. :roll:

Silly crabs. Lol. And people don't understand why we do this. Neither do I, but that's ok.

Peanut is digging holes! Nothing but holes. I'm thinking about renaming him Holes McGee. It's very cute, especially when I mist the tank and accidentally get him wet. Then he gets mad and either digs deeper or abandons ship and runs under the half log.

Can't blame him.... if I could dig like a crab, I'd hang out away from the noise of life.



I got new shells in yesterday. I have one crab on the very cusp of large-ness, Pax (got him from a young lady who found me on this forum ), and he's got a pretty impressive moult sac, so I ordered a few more 1.5"-just-under-2"... also thinking of Chandra & Jace, the next biggest kids in class, as they'd need more big shells once molted.

This morning there are somehow two crabs in the new bigger shells... which is mind boggling - I can't imagine either of the other two lugging these big shells about. But novelty is often the fashion with silly crabs.

New crabber here as an adult though I did have hermies as a teenager. I got my 2 about 2 months ago, they classify as small, one male and one female. Their names are Kaladin (M) and Shallan (F). Kaladin just had his first successful molt and now they are playing shell swaps since I put new shells in but I am so happy because they were both in painted shells when I bought them and so as soon as I noticed that they each had changed, I took the painted shells out and threw them in the trash where they belong. Anyways, I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself and my crabbies!

Congrats! I'm glad they changed out of their painted shells! I have seven hermies all in a 60 gallon tat. How big is yours? Do you have a wheel, cause if not, you should really get one. I almost never see my wheel without a crab on it!

I just have a 10 gallon and I don't have a wheel, no but that's a good idea! Here are some pictures of my crabbies! They have matching shells right now. Kaladin is the lighter one.
