Such cute crabs looks like they're having a blast exploring!

Love the spotted tapestry! I've only had one crab wear a spotted and he passed from pps unfortunately. I'm hoping someday one of my crabs will make use of my spotted tapestries, they're such pretty shells!

Just a heads up, I moved somethings around in the tank last night and I'm about to post a ton of pictures :)

Ok so here's the new set up. ImageImageImage So I took out the FBMP because it was either that or the driftwood and since lil mama came back up I felt like something familiar might be nice for her. I love the fact that I can hang it with my corner guards and it's not resting on the sub AT ALL! Also, took one of my second levels that I made out of a shelf thing and flipped it upside down. Took the cocomat off the top of it and reziptied it to the bottom of the shelf and then hung it up in the corner with some more zipties. It's now a hanging shell shop :) and they can climb all over it!

Ok so while pulling everything out last night I found squirt. She was under the tree in the middle of the tank. At first she had the "oh crap" look and then I swear she gave me the evil eye! I have never seen a crab look so annoyed haha! I wish I had had my camera right then but I got lots of action shots after lol. Here are the ones I did get :) Image squirt, of course my climber making her way to the top of the tank :) Image here's Madison pouting in the corner with Bash and Thumbelina trying to follow her lol. ImageImage just as squirt made it to the top little Thumbelina decided she wanted the top spot and climbed up too! And then TOOK squirts spot haha. She's a bold little one. Image (and I love that they can climb on the corner guards Image) Image little mama standing over Bob. Poor girl, she misses him a lot. Image little mama and bash. Image Bash enjoying some moss :) Image I know you can't tell but Squirt is hanging from the driftwood that they all used to hang from. It's only right that she'd be the first one to hang from the wood lol.

This morning when I was taking pictures of the tank Squirt and I surprised each other. She was eating out of her new food dish (thanks Brittperry and her amazing food Image the crabs definitely pigged out last night!) and I didn't even see her till she was rolling backwards from snapping in her shell so fast lol. ImageImage RUN Squirt RUN!! Haha love these crabs Image

Moonbeam I love it! The hanging shell shop looks so nifty! I wanna steal that idea but I'm not sure how I would b able to suspend it...
I too have a floating piece of driftwood and I love it- so do the crabs. Everyone loves to sleep on it.

I feel bad when they suck back into their shell so quick that they roll over. But I do laugh because it's a cute funny lol.

Thanks Ryry! I love it too :) I can't believe at 2 in the morning I was able to come up with the idea for the hanging shell shop! My brain felt like mush at the end of the night lol. Next time you upgrade I'll remind you to put corner guards in so you can decorate however you want anytime you want :)

I felt bad for scaring squirt but I wasn't expecting her to be having a mid day snack! I swear she's still put out with me for finding her last night haha.

Does your floating driftwood mold? I had my driftwood resting on the sub last time it was in the tank and it molded and I read that if it's not touching there's a better chance it won't? Hoping that's true!!

What are your crabs up to?

My first tat that my mom had set up had a terrible mold problem. The wood grew it bad. It was not soaked in saltwater prior to putting it in AND it rested on the sub. So it was doomed. My hanging piece has been soaked in sw, and has been in my super humid tank for like 2 weeks? Maybe a little more? And I just finally found a little puff of mold lol. It's not bad so I'm not worried... Yet...

Edit: the mold from the first tank came from the wood :(

Hmm well I guess we'll just have to see how it goes. I know it doesn't bother the crabs so I'm gonna *try* to wait out the mold period.

I put the new shells in last night and it looks like little Bash finally changed :) and he likes the upside down shell shop! Image oh and Bob came up! He's been hiding in the shell shop all day lol. I don't think he and little mama have found each other yet but I'm sure they will :) Image

Thank you both! Toast was a lucky find. The lady at the store said she'd never sold a crab that small before!

And the polka dot shells have been quite the hit in the crabitat  we have 2 of them and our crab Rex is in the other. A lot of other crabs have tried them on. They seem to be the favorite :)

Btw moonbeam, your crabitat looks awesome!

Thanks :) all the crabbies seem to be enjoying it. They're crawling all over the place, it's fun having an active tank for once!

I have two spotted tapestries and one crab has worn them in 5 months. Apparently they aren't a favorite for my little ones. But I do have 3 crabs that will grow into the smaller spotted so maybe one of them will pick it up eventually.

This morning I found 5 crabs out! Only squirt was awake and moving around but my crabs have never slept out in the open except for when they were in the tote! Looks like they love the new set up as much as I do and are feeling more comfortable every day. And I found Bob sleeping in the tree. Seeing the big guy out and about again just makes my heart melt

I was ready to strangle Poseidon today. He dug up my tank again in turn burying my electronic gauge for the second day in a row. Then he dug a ditch across the tank in a crazy zigzag pattern. When I saw him he jerked into his shell like "oh crap! she knows it's me!" So I stood there. When he finally came all the way back out he came to the glass and stared at me. Creepy hermit....creepy gopher hermit...he currently has dug another big hole and is in it. He is randomly poking his head/eyes up and looking around before going back into his hole.

The best part about this thread is catching up on all the posts, laughing on the comments,&doing the "AWWW" on the pictures of everyone's wonderful crabbies!!Lastnight I made some dry food treats,my husband bought a bag of blue corn tortilla chips..the ingredients state-blue corn, brown rice, flax, sesame, sunflower seeds, quinoa, sea salt..I crushed some of them with Cheerios that my daughter tosses on floor, flaxmeal,&cuttlebone, crushed mixed nuts..This was a hit!!so much that the tat is tore up!!yesterday I added more leaves to the pit,(on top of them)so they have been crunching around!!When reading on all the digging our crabs like to do,I think about a hole digging loving dog in a tat & seeing the aftermath of all trenches, potholes,&piles all about..Laugh so much!!!

He is. Lol he is a tank wrecking jerk! When everyone wakes up and we go downstairs for the day I wonder what he has done. One of my extra large crabs (Iris my female XL) went down a few days back. Maybe he misses her.
