Wow, he has good taste in shells! That painted shell was nasty.

My crabs have been so boring recently.

It makes tank maintenance easier, but I want some action! I guess it doesn't help that I've been super busy cleaning the house, so I haven't had time to really sit and watch them.

I don't think they're actually that big. I'm not great at sizing, but I think Crabzilla (my largest) is about a medium-large. It seems like his big pincher is huge compared to his body.

Nothing exciting with anyone except how active big Dude is being! It's usually around 12AM-10AM, but he's actually moving ut and exploring! I've held him twice, he's soft from being freshly molted, fluffy baby!
(He's not very fluffy when he uses his pinchers and your extra skin to get a good grip though...)

Everyone other than shy Harry has been quite active since moving into the 29g last Thursday evening. Just surprised Felix sitting in the food dish (quick backwards scuttle into leafy safety) and Marble is climbing about in the vines over the pools. Marble has also been fascinated by one of the oddly shaped decorative shells: there's no way a crab can get anything other than a toe into the thin slot opening but he keeps returning to it and fondling it

I did some tank maintenance today and had a few crabs who were trying to 'help.' :roll: They would get in the way, I would move them, they would get in the way, I'd move them...

Then I found 4 crabs in the moss pit. That's a record for me!

I have 2 crabs up, successfully through their first molts with me. Mario wouldn't come out for pics, but the lovely (and cranky and pinchy and generally evil) Melisandre was much more willing to pose:

I found a mystery crab. Me or my mom haven't seen the shell before, it's a small turbo that's light and dark green with super dark green bands on it. I'm setting him on the table, waiting for him to pop up so I can ID him.
Pretty sure he's not from the recent adoption, they were all wearing the same colored green turbos around this size, and the crabs from my first adoption are much bigger than this.
The new little guys could fit their entire shell into this one no not one of them. With one of the crabs I can find him by the way he comes out, he'll stretch out fully then slam himself back in, then stretch all the way out, slam back in, as long as you hold him. All I can tell now is that it's a PP.

Batman came up from a molt in a shell identical to Pinky's so for two days I've been thinking they were the same crab!
He got his little self stuck in this cholla piece earlier!

Well my crew have been up to no good. I spent a few hours sprucing up the tank a few days ago, gave them a ton of new leaves, offered new treats they'd never had. The works. Since then they have half dumped half buried the food bowl, completely buried one of my big rocks (bigger than any of my crabs), and dug several holes throughout. I'm not sure if they're protesting in outrage or showing their appreciation the only way crabs know how to, by wrecking it, of course. Either way, not cool dude.

Trying to decide if my all time favorite crabby behavior is the snag and drag or the dew guzzle.

Aragon just snagged a piece of shrimp and dragged it to a hide.

Arawen is at the side of the tanks collect and drinking crabby dew drops.
