This is Carol. She was my first hermit crab and is my largest. She's also my favorite because she doesn't let her big size deter her from climbing up plants and hanging upside down like a bat. It used to scare me when she would crawl upside down, but now she does it so often that I'm sure she must have the hang of it  I kind of miss her right now because she disappeared near the beginning of October, so I probably won't see her until the end of November or beginning of December, based on her molts in the past. She is the only crab that doesn't run away from me. I think Glenn is starting to come around though. :P

This is Glenn and Maggie. They switch shells so often I'm not sure who is who anymore. They also share the same favorite spot on top of the coconut hut.

I'm pretty sure this little guy is either Daryl or Karl, either way, he's a little chicken. All of the little ones are and I can't really tell any of them apart.

Image

Sorry I don't have any pictures of the rest. I only counted 5 when I fed them tonight, but I didn't check in the coconut huts, and I know Carol, Michonne, and Glenn are molting. I feel bad because I know who Carol and Michonne are, I can pick out which two are Maggie and Glenn, but I can't even start to identify the other 6
I love Carol! She's so cute and her shell almost makes her look like a big beefy ladybugImageImage you've got some awesome shots of your crabs!

yesterday, I made the airvent hole somewhat bigger,& placed the plexiglass tank (think it was used 4a betta, my husband is a mover & someone left it in an office so he bought it home) over the hole..I made a leaflitter(mainly maple leaves),pit out of a styrofoam egg container(using the lid). The temperture is holding a steady 75 deg, humidity is@83..guess whose nice & cozy in the now skyscraper turned suite? yeap its Violet..Sunset was out 2, but she really doesnt climb around..She visits the kritter keeper turned freshwater pool I made, thats nice & warm (next to the hermie heater)eats, then hides again, unless shes one of those midnight adventures..Hoping tomorrow after this rain blows through, I can find a decend branch outside to put in the suite for climbing!!!

Agreed! Muse your crabs are so amazing! Love the pool, what's in it? Is that some sort of coral or rock?

Oh what a spoiled violet! That's too cool that you're going out of your way for her to have her own personal suite Image

Yup! It is coral that came from the saltwater set up that was in this tank previously. I built them a huge coral palace to hide in with it and that's where most of the crabs go during the day time. There are 22 crabs in this tank. Image
Excuse my messy room lol. All but 4 of my crabs seem to be hiding right now ImageImageImage

As you can see my lid and humidifier are a bit "ghetto" for lack of a better term. I have 2 corner moss pits and 2 small moss pits, a shell shop and leaf dish for seconds levels and 4 hides in addition to the coral palace. I have 10in of sub, I wanted 12 but it would be the same height as the salt water pool and I think some of the crabs might accidentally fall into the deep end :hlol:
Next things I want to add are more leaves and vines, a proper lid, and more second levels of course.

It's awesome! What size tank is that? And sometime we need to make things work- your lid cracks me up! When I move next year I'm hoping for a bigger more impressive set up! I will totally want some super fly pools and better second lvls!! I dig it!!

My super shy crab, Samwell, is up today. I got him in mid-September from someone on Craigslist. She had owned him for 2 years and he wasn't in great condition - no saltwater, commercial diet, etc. He dug down immediately and molted, but I rarely see him. He comes up every once in a while to stuff his face, and then reburies. I grabbed some pics before he disappears again.

I just cleaned the glass and look how filthy it is! *shakes fist.*

Muse, I love your setup! And not to be a creeper but I saw your Five Guys cup and now I want a burger :(
Crabbing since July 2014! 75 gallon with 12 Purple Pinchers.
