*Clarence (my little guy) fell in the fresh water pool. Rusty (my big guy) ran over to see if he could help. Clarence eventually got himself out, but it was quite humorous seeing Rusty look so interested in his fallen comrade.
*Opaque decided on a shell she wanted and then proceeded to tip backwards and roll herself down a slope to get to a more secluded area. It seems faster than walking and is now her preferred way of travel if a hill is available.
*Rusty lost a piece of chicken off a cliff and peered over at it sadly for the next 20 minutes. He had more chicken right next to him, but I guess he really liked that piece. I imagined the Titanic theme song playing the whole time. "No chicken, I won't let go."
*Rusty was having the time of his life climbing on the plants. Clarence was in a section of said plants that Rusty wanted to claim as his own. Even though Clarence is much smaller than Rusty, he didn't back down, but instead walked right up to Rusty, and plopped himself down firmly on the section Rusty wanted. I think Rusty knew how to pick his battles and developed a new sudden interest in something else.
*Opaque found the salt pool for the first time and got so excited that she fell right in. There are a layer of shells in the pool, so she had an easy way to get out. The second time she approached it, she acted much less exuberant, and sat on the side, dipping her claw in. She then spent the next hour at the salt pool. She looked like a diva getting a spa treatment.
*Clarence (being a smaller crab) found out that it is very economical to ride on the shell of a larger crab. He picked my cantankerous Rusty as a lift and for the next 10 minutes I watched the intricate dance of Rusty trying to get Clarence off of him. It was only after those 10 minutes with no luck that Rusty got a light bulb over his head. He walked over to the water bowl, tipped back, and dumped Clarence into it. Moral of the story? Don't pick the cantankerous hermit of the group as transportation.
I'd love to hear your funny hermit stories. I hope you enjoyed mine. My hermits are a constant source of happiness for me.
