I rescued my three crabs, Ryan, Pat, and Bandit, about five days ago. They were formally in a wire cage with gravel and no salt water and given only commercial food. Now they are in a nice 10 gallon with saltwater, six inches of sand, fresh food, and nice high humidity. The crabs were also in painted shells, Ryan already changed into a nice natural one but the other two haven't.
For the first few days, Pat spent almost all his time in the "hermie hut" and wouldn't come out unless I moved him, only to go back in after a bath (sometimes). The other two spent a lot of time on top of a wooden climbing toy I have in there, but they still came down every so often on their own.
Now, Pat and Ryan are like what Pat was like, except with the climbing toy, Bandit is the same except she sometimes just sits and the sand and doesn't move. They are in the same position before I go to bed as when I wake up. They literally don't move unless I move them, then they just crawl back where they were and continue sitting there. I know hermit crabs are nocturnal, but it doesn't seem like they move, even at night! Do you guys think there is something wrong with them? Or are they just lazy?
Crabs are not moving around much?

Re: Crabs are not moving around much?
They could be destressing from their poor previous conditions or preparing to molt. There really isn't much you can do except leave them be and keep their food and water fresh. Time will tell.
