i have 6 pp crabs, however, one has already molted for the "season" and the rest are all molting (or digging around )

Chances are a new crab will just dig down soon after coming home anyway. Don't worry. Your guy on the surface isn't really alone and will be just fine. 
So, if you're wanting to add another crab and have the room, of course that's fine. But if you're just adding so he has someone on the surface, I wouldn't recommend it.

i figured any new crab would dig under to destress. i guess i'm just looking for an excuse to get another crabbie

Oh well, if that's the case (and of course if you have room for more), go right ahead! I always suggest checking out the Adoption section here or even sites like Craigslist for crabbies in need of a home.
Edit: it probably goes without saying, but just in case. If you're a minor please check with your parent/guardian beforehand. Especially where sites like Craigslist are concerned.
