New tank with different sized hermies?

Post by Panthera » Tue Jan 12, 2016 10:34 am

Hello all, I am starting up a new 115G or 430L tank.

Just wondering do I have to get all the hermies at the same size or is it okay to get mostly small ones and a couple of medium or larger ones?

Will I have any problems with bullying or serious fighting?

I have mine all together. I have yet to see any aggression from the large ones towards the small ones. My smaller ones actually love hanging out with the large crabs. They like to sit on top of them or snuggle in on the sides of them. I would say you are fine to have all your crabbies together in the new tank! Can't wait to see the new build!

I don't have any problems. Mine are mostly medium large to large with a couple small and mediums thrown in. They all chill together in moss pits. The only issues I see are the bigger ones always eating first and knocking the smaller ones out of the way, but no one gets hurt and they all eat eventually.

In my experience, there's more likely to be issue between crabs of similar size. Not that that's very common either, provided conditions are right. :)
