Gary

Post by marandashermies » Tue May 10, 2016 9:53 pm

My most active PP Gary, has been MIA for the past couple weeks. I figured he buried and didn't give it a second thought.

Today I heard clanking in my bathroom and thought my cats were tipping over their water dish. I went in their to find Gary attempting to crawl in the cats water bowl. I picked him up and he was ice cold. He didn't retreat into his shell, just crawled on my hand. I immediately put him back in the tank and inspected it for possible escape routes, only to find none.

Gary seems to be a bit diss colored. Not as bright and vibrant as he was. My house is only about 67 degrees, as I live in MN. Last week we were in the high 80's and this week in the mid 50's. I feel like Gary has been out for a while due to the coloring and how cold he was. How he evaded my two cats and me and my daughter remains a mystery. He is acting normal, and out and about, however I am worried there could be internal gill damage. I guess time will tell.. Hopefully Gary doesn't try anymore escape attempts. Or if he does, hopefully it's a day where we are in the 80's or 90's. Ugh.Image

Gary is doing fine. More than fine actually. He is now officially my trouble maker crab. I caught him trying to escape a few more times, but plugged the area he was getting through. Now he walks around on the lid of the tank all night, making as much noise as he possibly can. At 1am last night, (after laying awake listening to him for 2 hours clamping on the lid) I decided he needed to be moved elsewhere. I grabbed him off the inside of the lid and walked him out to the 125g in the living room. All the while he was clamping onto my hand. Didn't feel great by any means! So Gary is now in the living room in the big tank, where he can not escape and can be as noisy as he wants, without driving me completely insane.

This crab is very hardy. He will be the one to live for the next 30 years...I just know it...

Sounds like he needs some stripes to wear for being a jail break!
Glad to hear he's doing well lol
