never see them!

So my 3 little guys only come out at night, and bury themselves all day. I know they are nocturnal but it seems other people here interact with theirs during daylight.
Thoughts?

What's the temp in your tank? I noticed mine stopped coming out in the day at all when it got cooler

I have one crab that just likes to stay under the sand during the day. My other crabs usually stay in the moss pit or the food bowl during the day, but not him. I've had him about 7 months, he's molted, and appears healthy and active at night. I just think it's their personality.
Maybe you could provide more hiding places? Or try rearranging the decor. If you don't have a moss pit, I definitely recommend one, crabs love it! Hopefully your little guys will come out so you don't just have a tank of pet sand lol

They really do best at 80 degrees or higher, and seem to be much more active. That being said, I can vouch I rarely see my Crabs up and about during the day. As mentioned above, lots of coverage is a great way to encourage them to be out and about more. Keep in mind beavior varies crab to crab like any animal, but it really isn't odd for crabs to sleep literally all day under the sand and emerge at night. In the wild this likely helps them not be carried off by prey when they sleep.

Mine are hardly out at all! You aren't alone.

Great, and thanks for all the feedback. I have read differing opinions on whether to use natural Spanish moss in the pit. In your moss pit, do you use the reptile or Spanish or other moss? Thanks

I use sphagnum moss in my tank.
It's pretty inexpensive, and they seem to like it a lot.

I use sphagnum moss as well. I use the fluker's green sphagnum moss
edit: I think most reptile moss is either sphagnum moss or frog moss. I have used both, but the frog moss turned ugly yellow on me and is more pillowy, so they can't really bury in it.

Is this the one?

Yes I think so. Mine is green green like the second picture as opposed to brown, but it has the same label.

I bought some green moss with the picture of a frog on it in a big bag at petsmart, there is a picture of the actual product in my 20g tall with lid post, and there is also a pic of the moss pit with the beautiful moss inside. It was 5 bucks. I've tried Spanish, spahgnum, flukers hermit crab moss and this is by far the best
