Do Your Crabs Know You?

Post by AndyCrabby » Fri Jul 21, 2017 8:30 am

I've been wondering this for awhile but can our crabs recognize us and tell us apart? I noticed my crabs if they're out and I'm snooping around their tank(changing waters, adding food, sprucing up, taking pics) most of the time they'll continue what they're doing or at least stay where they are and wait for me to leave. If they see my boyfriend though its like they've seen a monster. They immediately start running away to hide. To be fair he likes to handle them and pick them up while I prefer to leave them be. Can they tell is apart? Do your crabs treat you different from other humans?

If I ever run out of cute names for them I might just name them after Hamilton characters. People will ask why I have a founding father in my tank

Yes! One of mine doesn't have a name yet, but we were listening to Hamilton in the car on the way home and he tried to come out of his shell for the first time! So I might name him something from Hamilton. Hmmm...

Also the small one kind of knows me, but ironically the bigger one (Karkat) is really shy. :crabblush:

Ralph-a (my stepson named him Ralph but when she climbed the top, you could see her gonopores) is the only crab that I have that won't freak when she sees me or anyone.
Mom to 2 girls, 2 boys, 1 chihuahua (Zoey), 1 cat (Sid), 2 bettas (Blu & Stitch), and 5 hermies (4 PP and an Eccie); Big Boy/Grumps (or whatever his mood is) Ralph, Faith, Munchkin & Spidey.
Little Dora(PP hermie) passed on 7/7/2017
