Shell shop sleeper

Ive noticed this past week that 1 of my 2 guys have continuously been spending the night in the shell shop hanging toward the top of the tank... is this normal behavior?

The only thing different is that ive placed a lamp on that side of the tank for light during the day till i can get an overhead aquarium light and lid. I turn it on when i wake and shut it off at 730pm. My temps are steady at 78% and 80f and the shop hangs over both water pools. But there are only shells in the basket. The other guy digs for the night and he did to up till this week...

3 or 4 of my crabs absolutely love hanging out in the shell shop! Mine is also a 2nd level shop. they routinely sleep there and when I look for them that's the first place I check. I think they just feel comfortable amongst the shells. It's good camo like crabmater said and I have mine lined with spagnum and coco so it's always moist in there and makes a great crabby snack so it a good place for crabby nap time :)

I have a crew of shell shop sleepers here... 4 out of 6 of my crabbies almost live there lol(and it's a second level as well).. the 2 that stays on sub seem to never climb tho. One of them (Henry) is very large and Id say old.. he has very meaty legs and doesn't seem to explore much... And the other is our most recent new arrival to our crabitat (who we now call Gimpy) and is unfortunately missing both left legs.. she dosnt seem to get around very well and oddly rolls when she does.. and they stay together mostly... But yes I laugh at them a lot watching them flip and roll shells all over the basket.. especially our smallest 2! (Sabastian and Christina)..

One of my crabs, Bob, always sleeps up in the 2nd level shell shop, as well. The other, Guido, always sleeps on the sub, behind a climbing net. For a while, I was worried Bob had gotten stuck up there because I never saw him down on the sub, but nope--he just likes it up there. Weirdos. :)

Same here. After watching ours for nearly 3 years... Yeah. They're really strange critters. They seem to know what they're doing but I sure don't.
