Catching Nocturnal Behavior?

So I'm getting a little concerned because, nearly 3 weeks after giving my crabs full sub, I've only seen 4 of 7. I'm wondering if part of that is just nocturnal activity, but it seems like quite the lucky strike to only make holes where they can't be seen, and leave no trace otherwise. Has anyone set something up to either record or catch crabs overnight so i can put my nerves to rest?

Sounds like they are molting?

Would they all molt without showing any signs like looking dull or having cloudy eyes?

In some cases yes! Every crab is different. They don't have to have these traits to molt. Maybe they liked the deeper sub better because they felt less vulnerable or it was more moist... Crabs are weird!

They molt on schedule, whether they look like they need it or not!

I have 7 crabs in a 60 gallon tank. Their substrate is over 7 inches. I only ever see one or two at any given time during the day. Usually none. At night I most often see 2 - particularly the smallest ones - out playing with shells and trying to run off with food. Only once in 3 years have I seen 6 out of the 7 out at once at night. As soon as they saw me, half of them went and hid. That's the only time I've seen our 2 biggest ones at all in the past 9 months.
