Florida - Hurricane Irma

Post by hprmom » Sun Sep 10, 2017 9:44 am

Took a little video of the tank this morning: https://youtu.be/7t8X1cG6uiQ

Everyone is up and alert except one. Junior, who has been going back and forth between his old murex and a bigger one for weeks, has squeezed his butt back into the security of his old shell, LOL. My "24/7" tank light is creating an artificial normal daylight cycle, wonder if that's confusing? Maybe I'll punch the button for a cloudy day! :)

@GotButterflies, how are things on the east coast, did you evacuate? @Kermie16 and @KayedeeLove<3 I forget where you're located, how ya doing? Any other Florida peeps online?

Very cool! Last night a lot of my hermits were out and up, but none are out right now. We boarded up that room. The crabs are "safe". We didn't evacuate, we are staying. We boarded up a couple of rooms. I'm not actually on the coast :) Ironically enough, I have felt a peace about this storm - no worries what so ever - but we are prepared. So far just a lot of rain and wind. Be safe! :)
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

Ah, when I think Daytona, I think coastal! :D Unless you're not there anymore? Glad the storm center moved west for your sake (although praying for the west coast which is going to get clobbered). And glad about the peace. I always have the worst jitters when the first panic starts--days before we can be sure of the path!--but calm down as zero hour approaches and we've prepared. God bless!

I am in between Daytona & Orlando. It takes me 25 minutes to get to either city Lots of rain and wind so far, tornado threats are the worst of it all (imo)! My faith keeps me strong. Hopefully those that were told to evacuate did! Stay safe!

GB, How did you make out? No power here and this is the first I've been able to access internet on my phone. I've been a wreck not bring able to get outside news! Hermits are fine, two in evidence, 90% humidity! But the tank temp dropped 2 degrees! Should go up tomorrow since we're expecting 90 and sunny and no a/c. Image I didn't realize we were so close!

We did great! Eye went right over us! We are one of the few with power! List internet, but it was restored by this am. Lots of debris around the yard. Trees down on the golf course! We are safe! God is good!

Florida - Hurricane Irma

Yes, still no power! We have a small generator running the freezer and a window a/c unit in the bedroom so we can sleep cool. My husband strategically placed a fan to pull cool air from the bedroom down the hall so the kitchen is a tolerable 80 degrees. I'm getting really good at cooking on the grill!

Hermit tank is still at 78, but humidity has shot up to 91%

I heard Jax got hit hard! Glad you are okay! Power on yet? Flooding on your property?

GB, all the time! Image Glad to hear it!

My friends in Lakeland were hit dead center of the eye and never lost power! Weird! Our internet is spotty but now that we're on our way to my parents' house I have all the signal and bandwidth I could ask for, lol. Going to hang out in their a/c tonight!

Glad to hear you are all safe! We are all good here in GA, just tropical storm force wind and rain but everything is practically back to normal. Our one crab that had been down molting for about 3 months, Kelp, decided to come out around the same time the storm came while the other 2 dug down.

I was rather surprised my tanks were mostly empty and a ton of holes were left behind. They didn't eat much either. What is left of Irma hit us today in Ohio.
