All gone

The last of my 4 crabs have died.
My oldest and favorite crab ( Feller) who was over 8 months old passed away. He had been really slow and not eating. Also my mom didn't de-chlorinate his drinking water ( might not have been why he died ). Should I continue to get hermit crabs? They way I've been told is they are probably having a longer life under my care than in a pet store and I'm giving them a happy home until they pass away.
If you want to know my crabitat conditions ask and we might be able to solve something
My moms friend is going to gulf shore and will bring 2 hermit crabs back if we want. I got Feller from gulf Shores and he lived 8 months with us. Should I continue to get these crabs and make their last weeks\days\months happy? Because they be living longer with me than in a pet store.
