Acting weird

Post by carrieaurquhart » Mon Oct 14, 2019 6:34 pm

One of my crabs came out about 2 hours or so ago, and has been in the same spot suspended between two coconut shells just kinda hanging out of his shell. He looks a little lighter than normal, but when I opened the top he popped back in his shell like he normally does. I don't think he was stuck or anything but I picked him up and put him near the heat. Any ideas?

Since he's lighter he may have molted. It sounds like he was probably fine, but I totally understand moving him from there in case he was stuck. If he was already warm enough, he might move away from the heater. Sometimes crabs are just crazy and like to hang out in silly places/positions. I have a thermostat that is magnetized on the glass. My crab Beau insists on climbing on the piece inside the tank, which is too flimsy to hold his weight. So of course it falls off the tank and he falls onto his food dish below lol. Image Not to mention how the "CLINK" sound scares me each time ha.

Thanks! I know he hasn't molted yet, but it has been a long time since he has, maybe he's getting ready to? He got up and moved around after I moved him so I guess he's fine. Lol

You're welcome! He could def be getting ready to molt if he hasn't for a while. Maybe he was dreaming he was on a hammock by the beach between two coconut shells LOL.Image
