The great oak bark banquet

So, the other day yesterday morning I took some oak bark from outside, cleaned the pieces, ( quite a few oak trees where I live at ) and threw them in the tank, and my largest crab, Odin, went absolutely ham on and has been constantly sitting and on it and devouring it all day yesterday, and all day today, and I've never ever would imagine I would ever see so much hermit crab feces in such a time frame ( trust me, there's been A LOT. ) Odin is my only crab right now as my other crab, Tukiyo, is buried at the moment, I've had to actively check and spot clean in the tank.

Ha! They can eat as much wood as termites do sometimes! Lol! That’s pretty great- at least you know that’s a home run!

Our crabs love anything oak and birch! Bark and leaves! We forage for them a few times a year at my mom's place in the country.

Wait until spring and try a small branch with leaves! They'll turn it into toothpicks in no time.
