HCA: Hermit Crab Association

I have a kind of strange questions.....do anyone else's crabs do things as a group? Like burying? Or is it a coincidence?

I have 9 small to upper end medium crabs in a 50 gallon crabitat. It seems like either EVERYONE is up, or they're all down, and I have a pet tank of sand and decor.

3 days ago, there were 7 up and doing their thing, as of yesterday, MAYBE 2.

Is it normal for them all to go down at the same time?

I only have 2 crabbies, roughly the same size, and they are both on the same molt schedule, yes. They actually just came up after about 2.5 months of having pet sand. If you think about it, it kind of makes sense because they are pack/colony animals so it would make sense for the whole pack to molt at the same time as they travel together and stuff like that.

I have six. Their molting schedules do have overlap but they’ve never all disappeared at once.
