Has anyone seen their hermit crabs catch (wingless) fruit flies?

Where we discuss the behavior of our hermit crabs, as in fights, pecking orders, shell swaps, etc. Please post all naked-crab posts in the Emergency forum.

Has anyone seen their hermit crabs catch (wingless) fruit flies?

Wondering if I can feed them some and if it's a wise idea to put them in the tank as a cuc because they love rotting fruit. I have 2 tubes full of flightless Drosophila spp. and I'm wondering if they can. If not, I'll freeze some and bake them.

I dpubt they'll catch them and eat them while living, but they may be fair game dead - like little protein pockets/seeds.

Good thinking, I'll have to try it! Yeah, I'm thinking now they'll be too quick, especially in the higher temps

I had received dried anole food once that was fruit flies, crabs wouldn't touch it. (Ignoring completely how absolutely horrible a food like that exists for reptiles that need live insects.)

Huh. Interesting. I'm still gonna try it out, but I'll keep that in mind.
