New weather?

Post by Guest » Mon Oct 01, 2007 4:30 pm

I've read somewhere on here that when the season changes, the air pressure changes, and the hermies get a little messed up. Is this true? My hermies dug down since this change of weather and they just recently molted, so i know they arent going down for that reason.

I am starting to think so, CamCam. We have the windows open in the house 24/7 now. The air is off and it does get chilly at night. I know, I know, this is no good for the crabs  but the windows right around their tanks are closed.
The crabs are hiding more. I think they may be cold.

If the temp. and humidity are normal in the tank, then that's fine. I really doubt that a change in air pressure would affect the crabs, but I could be wrong.

I'm no expert, but I believe the crabs are sensitive to air pressure changes. Remember, they come from Hurricane prone tropical islands. One thing you definitely get when a hurrican is on the way is pressure change. Plus all animals have an inate ability to sense storms so they can protect themselves. I'm not sure what behavior it would cause in crabs, probably more hiding or climbing? Just my two cents. :D
