How to care for different types of crabs?

I am out of town for business and just went to the local pet store. I was very pleasantly suprised to find their hermit crabs in good condition. Plus, they were so different. I tried to look at them really hard and I think they might be E's or Ruggies. I tried to ask the pet store manager, but he said their invoices only say "hermit crabs." We don't have these at home, so needless to say I GOTTA HAVE 'EM. I just need to know what the care differences are. I only have PP's and have only had them for 3 mos. Can someone please tell me how to care for Ruggies & E's? Other than salt water, I mean.

If your tank conditions are stable, rugs & Es need basically the same type of conditions. 80-85 degrees/80-85% humidty. I have seen species, and they all thrive in those conditions.
Neither species seem to be as hardy as PPs, but they do add dimention to your tank.
You can read on both species in the caresheets listed over there~~~>

Thanks for the info. I plan to get 3 tomorrow. I'm hoping they will be a little more active for me.

Just as Kathy stated, your conditions should be kept around 80/80%. I have PPs, Es, and Straws and they all seem to thrive in this environment.

Yes, pics are a must and congrats on the new babies. If you've gotten them already. You should name one Fishy. I always thought that would be a cool name, but I'm over-packed with crabbies for now.
