Are they bored? Lazy?
I've had my crabs for a while, so I think they should be over PPS. They just seem to never be in sight. Once in a while I'll find a hole, but mostly they just hide. I tried rearranging the tank, and they moved around a little at first, but now they're back to hiding in the cocohut/underground. Or are they maybe just sneaky and move when I'm not looking? It would be nice to see them out and about once in a while.

For a while, when I was having humidity problems (I couldn't get it to stay above 75%) my crabs mostly hid and weren't too active. Now I've got it to stay at about 80%, which they seem to like a lot better. A lot of times during the day, I'll see one or two of them crawling around or sitting on their coco-hut.
In my smaller tank, all 5 crabs are below the substrate for most of the time, but sometimes they come up or leave me windows during the day. I know that some of them come up at night because of all the scattered food, piles of sand, and huge holes/caves in the substrate that appear overnight.

Tried that one
Have a sunglo and a nightglo bulb to try and get them out earlier (like 8pm) and it still doesnt work.
If i go out for the night and get back late, I am careful not to turn on the light and as soon as i look into the tank they clamp down their shells and then run away and bury down again until i turn out the light

They'll come out eventually, some crabs take longer than others to get settled in. My crabs are over two years old now and they come out all times of the day and night. They especially come out when I get home from work because they know that I am going to change their water bowls and put in fresh food and mist them. But very soon, in the next couple of weeks I am expecting the activity in our tanks to drop down to near zero because all of our crabs seem to have a major decrease in activity as the winter approaches. I know that it is not the temperature or the humidity because it is pretty constant in their crabitat, my theory is that it is a seasonal or cyclical thing that some crabs go through.
