MAJOR tank trashing

Post by Guest » Fri Dec 07, 2007 9:42 pm

So while I don't know for sure who the culprit is, I'm putting my money on Sebastian since he tends to be the one who stirs the pot the most... Anyways, when I got home, every extra shell was buried under the sand. Thanks, dude... I can tell you don't like them considering you haven't changed out of that tiny one yet... Don't have to rub it in just HOW much you dislike them! lol And to top it off, I think he ruined my analog hygrometer... I found it in the fresh water dish... On the opposite side of the tank from where it should have been... And now there is water trapped inside. ~*sigh*~ Guess I'm getting that digital one sooner than I thought!

What a little booger.... :?8)

That's how I felt yesterday morning when I checked on my crabs. There are tunnels everywhere, the tank looks like the London Underground! There were shells scattered everywhere and things had been overturned.

That sucks about your hygrometer, but on the bright side, at least you'll have an excuse to get that new digital one!

RAen, my crabs also pried the analog hygrometer off the wall and floated it in the water dish. After I dried it out and put it back in the tank, they pried it off again and buried it. I gave up and bought a digital one. So far, they've buried it twice but it still works.

I too have suffered the hygrometer problem.

My lot have yet to dunk it yet but don't want to give them any ideas lol. It is now hopefully out of claw reach now but you never know they are very resourceful.

Think they have tried and failed to prize off the thermometer too lol.

Well, you do have nothing but Es so that sort of explains it right there. :D

My two straws are the naughty ones in my tank. I've lost two hydrometers, one was also pulled down, dragged across the tat and left floating in the water, while the second one the went a step further. The pulled it down, dragged it across the tank and then buried it

Everyday I wake up to massive craters, a ripped down repti-hammock and water dishes piled with sand. Little buggers just sit there and look innocent at me.

lol. after hearing all of you talk about your crabies dumping your hygrometers in water, i got to thinking. well... more like worrying. ^_^
i put some extra velcro on mine, and moved it where they couldn't reach. as for the behavior, one of my crabs, Tartar, is the naughty one.

He puts sand in all my water dishes, and has a habit of tunneling everywhere. he's tunnels under all the food and water dishes, and sometimes flips them over. i have a log think in my tank i use for a shelter, and tunneled under the thing and moved it across the tank! he even tunneled under my other crab Achilles! i was watching them, and all of a sunned Achilles just dropped into a huge hole in the sand. Tartar had been digging, and decided to take a break under Achilles. after break time was over, he moved and Achilles fell. i must admit it kept me laughing for a while though. [smilie=laugh.gif]

I feel lucky. I have all Es and the worst I get is tunneling and buried shells. They never rip things down and throw them in the water dish. Are my Es just weird? Although, my biggest crab did decide to dig a crater behind the cave. She dug out at least 3 inches of EE. Silly crabbies. But, that's why we love them.
