Changes in Ruggie Coloring

Post by MacandHunter » Sun Aug 10, 2008 6:11 pm

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share some thoughts on ruggies coloring. Looking at my lone Ruggie, Zippy got me to thinking. I've had him for quite some time now. When I first got him he was grey with a tint of Blue. I've had him for 2+ years - now he is almost all black.

For those of you with ruggies - how long have you had them and have you noticed any color changes after molts? Please share what you have noticed in your Ruggies. :)

I've gotten ruggies that were pink, red, purple, white, blue, green, grey, and black.

Over the course of molting, they all slowly lose their bright colors and shift to the grey color.

That's interesting crabattack. JMT - even the reds, and pinks? Those colors aren't close to grey.

well, my teenie nutmeg went darker and developed some green. i dont know about hurricane though. im hoping he has already molted under the sand, because he has to come up today for a much needed deep clean (the sand is stinking the house out)

I haven't had mine for long, but some have molted. I had 3 white/cream coloured rugs and 2/3 have molted. One is now brown with bubblegum pink BP and shield leg and the other is a pale green. My lavender ruggie molted and is deeper coloured now, but still pretty similar. My biggest shock was my pink guy. He went down all dusty pink/bordering on red and came up with a still dusty pink body, but his BP and shield leg are now indigo. Don't know how that happened... :? (The dark green one has yet to molt, I'll get back to you on him and the other cream guy that hasn't molted.)
