Saving food for later

Post by emberfusion » Thu Apr 08, 2010 11:26 am

Henry (the guy I just got yesterday - posted about him in the new crabs section) has decided he likes scrambled eggs.

He's shoving eggs into his shell and running off to hide them under his rock hidey.

He gets out of his shell, cleans all the eggs out. Hops back into his shell & buries the eggs. Now he's in the water cleaning himself off. :hlol:

I'm kind of glad I saw him do this or I'd be smelling something foul over the next couple of days wondering what the heck it is.

Anybody else seen their crabs do this?

I've seen them drag food off to hide or munch but never stuff it in their shell. :hlol:

:hlol: OMG that is so funny! Mine will drag it off, but if they are hiding it in their shells, I haven't seen that yet, though a big piece of apple (meant for everyone to share  ) did go missing awhile back and I never found it, even after I scooped through the whole tank.....

I watched ButterCup drag a piece of black olive off the other night that was nearly as big as her; it was pretty funny to watch.

Do you mind if I re-tell that story on my "funny stories" section on my page, assuming I credit you appropriately?

Sweet! That is exactly the kind of stuff I was hoping to hear from other crabbers. I will get it on there in the next few hours, so you can see it if you want. The address is in my signature. :D
