10 gallon .... course I would use more sand/dirt .... I would use different feed and I would use real salt water ---- says this *****Not sure of the size of the tank but it's decent size, tank will come with 6 hermit shells, dirt, food, water conditioners, 3 food/water dishes and a heating element for the tank.

You can buy a 10 gallon glass tank for $10 at Petco right now. Plus, 10 gallons will only hold 2 crabs imho. (1 crab per 5 lbs). I personally would never allow someone else to set up my hermit crab tank for me. So, no. Make sure it's not calcium sand. You need good clean playsand/eco earth, not dirt, shells will depend on species and size of hermit crab. Commercial food for hermit crabs are not safe, and the only kind of water conditioner that I recommend is Prime. You would need marine salt water for hermits (Instant Ocean), Your call, but you can always pick up cheap tanks on Craigslist, Letgo, Offerup...so I'd personally say no.

Hmmmm. I bought my 10g at Petsmart for about $12, not on sale, but with my Petsmart card I got a discount. If ur seriously considering purchasing from them, I would want to see exactly what they have and the condition of everything (esp the tank) before finalizing a deal. Good luck!

Oh, okay, so it's from a person? Then I definitely would say no for a 10 gallon. You could always bargain with her! It doesn't hurt to ask -

she was asking 60 says she would go 45 - so I already got her to go down... I think the fair here give hermit crabs out -- then when they die .. people want the money back they bought things for to keep them

Is it possible to get the tank and crabs for a cheaper price? Unless her supplies are actually half decent, I wouldn't even bother in purchasing them!

I get offered set ups like that for free all the time. I recently got offered a 165 gallon tank and all its contents for free. I passed because I didn't want to make the 8 hour round trip to get it.
You can do much, MUCH better. The seller is trying to recoup ALL of her costs.
Pass on it.

Sometimes sellers do add a fee to ensure they going to a good home or because of a financial situation and do need the money for a variety of reasons. Just because it comes with a fee, does not make this sell bad. I've had a few adoptions that required a pay out - some due to a number of reasons, some included above...mool wrote:I get offered set ups like that for free all the time.
