Removing Paint

Can the paint be removed from those climbing sticks they make for hermies? I have one that I noticed was chipping away a bit at the bottom but looks like the blue dye may have dyed the wood underneath, if it is real wood?
Also a bit unrelated but how should I treat cork wood before putting it in the tank? Its so light I feel if I put it in the oven it'd just catch on fire lol

IF you can find a chemical-free paint remover (a very slim chance of that, I've looked all over) you may be able to use it for your crabbies. Although, I'd just replace the climbing stick all together if it came down to it. I'd rather just buy a new one than risk poisoning the tank or harming the crabs. It is most likely real wood, as most dyes do stain wood. (Much like how the juice from a popsicle stains the stick it is on). For your cork, I would try boiling it for a few minutes and then drying it out in the sun AWAY from any harsh chemicals or dirty surfaces. I hope this helps!!

As far as cork bark purchased from the pet stores, they are already treated. You don't have to do anything with them. You can freeze it if you prefer. Then bring to room temp before placing in the crabitat.
