(Man I haven't been here in a while...)
So I'm going to a school where you must live in the district in order to attend, so I live with my cousins and their parents and go back to my parents every once in a while. However, I can't take my hermit crabs with me because my cousins' house doesn't have space for hermits, and even if it did, I kinda doubt my aunt will let me bring them, so my parents need to care for them instead. Unfortunately, my parents don't know the first thing about hermit crabs. so I might need to set specific stuff for them to give my hermits using stuff around the house and stuff. Any ideas?

Print out the following lists:
Safe food list: http://hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/ ... 25&t=92557
Unsafe food list: http://hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/ ... 25&t=92556
Food pyramid: http://hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/ ... 25&t=92554
Then, tell them to make sure heat is around 80, and that humidity is at 80 or above. Then water should be cleaned regularly and you should be good to go! I personally think hermits do better when a hands off approach is used, so they should do great Good luck!

Re: Crab Care for Parents
Pre treat bottles of water and keep them near the tank, make sure both they and the water dishes are labeled so all they need to do is dump and refill.
You might want to consider investing in dry hermit crab mixes, and using a pill sorter (the kind that screw together and stack) to make them meals in advance so all they need to do is dump the old food and put in the new. The same could be done with small baggies (jewelry aisle at Walmart) and then labeled and frozen into meals.

That seems like a pretty cool idea, actually. I might end up making mixes or something using stuff around the house, so hopefully they'll let me make a mess of their kitchen. It's in the name of love!wodesorel wrote:Pre treat bottles of water and keep them near the tank, make sure both they and the water dishes are labeled so all they need to do is dump and refill.
