Possible bacteria stuff

Post by Sylah » Mon Jan 15, 2018 7:44 pm

I recently adopted two crabbies and there may be possible icky stuff in their old tank. I have transferred them to a iso tank with new sub and clean decors, etc.

We cleaned the old tank really well and will probably just store that for now. And I boiled everything. One of their old shells looked like had bugs in it.

Questions is how long would it be considered safe before I transfer them into the main crabitat which is a 40 with two other crabbies in it. Again the concern here is any possible bacteria contamination into main tank carried over from their last home. They are medium/large so the 10 iso tank right now is not super comfy.

Thank you!

Once the tank is cleaned out it is fine to reuse immediately. Crabs don't have communicable diseases that we know of. I like to bleach or ammonia nasty tanks for safety, but when I've been lazy and just used soap and scrubbed it never caused a problem.
