I have multiple crabs in a 20 gallon tank, this had many hidey spots and climbing grounds + humidity and temp gage, salt water and fresh water (with sponges), 5(+) shells and a mixture of moist dirt to walk on, this one was very friendly snd I’ve had him for over 7 months and he was very active- when I would go in the tank he would climb onto me n wander around on my arm for playtime but today I went into the tank to check on everyone and he didn’t respond as usual so I slightly picked him up and he COMPLETELY fell apart and out of his shell? I feel terrible and I would like to know what o might have done to him.
My other crabs are fine and are in general less active than him but I’m very certain he is dead and I’m mortified to have this happen to my other crabs- please help

Hi there,
I'm sorry for your loss. If you wouldn't mind, could you fill out this emergency template? It will helps us get a better look into your tank conditions.

Also, the HCA recommends 3-5 shells per crab. So if you have (for example) 5 crabs, you would want to have a minimum of 15 shells.

Do you know if he had molted since you got him?
