Runaway crab

Post by D833173840 » Wed Oct 20, 2021 6:47 pm

My best friend Baby was a small bright green crab whom I took everywhere. We had a routine. When I came home from work I let her exercise on the furniture. She was well trained? I got sleepy and sat down in chair fell asleep and my door was cracked open. Next thing she was gone or he. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY SHE LEFT, HOW SHE MAY BE OUTSIDE. I USED TO LET HER WALK ON BEACH..NOT NEAR ME. I NOW HAVE A NEW GIANT ONLY CRAB.

D833, I am so sorry for your loss... But those are wonderful memories aren't they. Just a thought, I personally wouldn't give up for quite some time, on finding your crab again. Many years ago my mom had a hermit crab who got away, and it wandered around outdoors for weeks or months, before it was found again, alive (at least that's what I was told). That was in California (Bay Area), so the temperature was relatively benign, however, there was no standing water, and it gets very dry there for long periods. So I think there is cause for some optimism that a crab may survive outdoors (outside of the tropics), at least for a period of time.

Hey there! I don’t know if I may come off rudely but I think you posted in the wrong topic by accident 😅 Would you like me to PM you with captioned screenshots on how to post a new topic? I wouldn’t be able to do it until later today but I can try to help :)|

Also on the topic of lonely crabs, back when I had crabs they seemed to mostly ignore each other anyway lol. And even if you were to get more, more than one can go down at a time. Sometimes 2 could go down and leave 1 alone, or all 3 could go down and then you have a “pet dirt” situation lol. So I would agree with the others and say it’s not really a big deal for your crab since it’s a temporary situation and you do have another crab- it’s just down at the moment Hope this helped at all and wasn’t just redundant haha :)

Thank you I didn't know how compose a topic such as runaway crab. It's very distressing to have a crab run away she was a lone crab and now I have a new crab. I just wondered if anyone has had a crab away before.
