Tank upgrade

Hey guys! I wasn't totally sure what topic to put this in, so hopefully this is the right topic.

So, I want to upgrade my tank SO BAD, but I'm not on the budget to do it. According to the chart the TECHNICALLY have enough room, but i feel so bad keeping them in the confines of my tiny twenty gallon. The incident with Samwise certainly didn't help this feeling. I desperately want a forty gallon MINIMUM. I was wondering if anyone here knew how I could cut the cost a bit and still provide a safe area for them.

P.s. Also, does anyone know where to buy good tank lids? The one I bought for my twenty gallon was a HUGE hassle. It was the aqueon brand and i spent a good half hour just trying to get the little plastic part to fit onto the main glass bit.

Idk about good cheap tanks but you could make the lid out of plexiglass, you would need to drill vent holes and get a lamp for it

Put a 'wanted' ad on local buy and sell groups. Keep an eye on those groups for people getting rid of tanks. Go to yard sales. I lucked into my 55 gallon tank, with a plexi glass lid made just for it, for free!

Edit: Also, do crabs prefer the actual hamster WHEELS or do the saucers work too ?

on the Wheels vs Saucers.. i've seen mixed reviews on both.. it seems to depend on their size.

Also, keep an eye on FB Marketplace for tanks.. I JUST today got a 75 gallon for only $80 which was more than i wanted to spend but it was too good a price to pass up.

Also, consider totes. They are super cheap compared to glass tanks and if you get a "clear" one its almost as clear as glass.
