Hermit crab in a hamster ball
The worst thing I saw today was a woman with a hermit crab out in public in a hamster ball!! when the ball rolled, the crab was tossed around and the woman was busy talking, ugh. Finally, I picked up after it rolled far away, taking the poor thing out The lady snapped at me with,"Hey!! that's my hermit crab!!". Honestly, I wanted to take the hermit crab home and away from her.

Oh, goodness! Hamster balls aren’t good for crabs, because the little vents in the ball can get a leg trapped and broken.hermiwormi wrote:The worst thing I saw today was a woman with a hermit crab out in public in a hamster ball!! when the ball rolled, the crab was tossed around and the woman was busy talking, ugh. That’s really great! You had every right to take the crab, and tell her it was wrong.

No clue why the crab was even far from home in the first place! They need humidity and the poor thing was probably really stressed out. I think she wanted to show it off or something, I don't know. There was no reason at all for a hermit crab to be out in public like that. The air is not very humid at all here, at least 30%StellaCrab wrote:Oh, goodness! Sadly, if she isn’t careful, someone could kick it, or it could even get into the street while she isn’t watching.hermiwormi wrote:No clue why the crab was even far from home in the first place! Did you talk to her at all about why you did it? I would have used it as a way to educate her.
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

Honestly, if it were me, I probably would've just walked away with the hermit crab Then, when that lady called the police on me and the cop came, I'd give them a lecture so boring that they'd allow me to keep the crab.hermiwormi wrote: ↑Tue Apr 24, 2018 5:42 pmThe worst thing I saw today was a woman with a hermit crab out in public in a hamster ball!! when the ball rolled, the crab was tossed around and the woman was busy talking, ugh. Re: Hermit crab in a hamster ball
I have thought about getting one of my crabs a mini hamster ball and lining it with craft mesh so that way this doesn't happen! I would only let him run around in it for a bit at home that way he could roam safely!piratetoothgir wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 6:47 amOh, goodness! I have 5 PPs in a 40 gallon breeder!
