Fake plants

Post by C: ClareCrabOwner :) » Wed Jan 22, 2025 2:41 pm

Are fake plants safe to use in my hermit crab cage? I'm afraid the crabs might pinch off pieces and eat them.

I use lots of artificial plants in my tank but I'd stay away from the cloth ones and any that have metal or wire in them. And when you get them don't forget to clean them.

But you should be all good!

I have used the cloth types, as well as the plastic types. When I see them getting tattered, I just remove them. There is nothing wrong with using the ones with wire or metal stems, these are usually covered in plastic.
To clean plastic items, don't boil them - you can give them a rinse in vinegar and water to clean, or wash with dish soap and water and rinse well.
