HCA Book on Hermit Crab Care?

Post by C: ClareCrabOwner :) » Wed Feb 05, 2025 1:54 pm

I was wanting to write a book about hermit crabs, following the information available on the HCA website, because there arn't very many good books on hermit crab care. Does anyone think this is a good idea? Is there already a book like this?

If I did make a book like this, could I put ideas I have for the book here? Could I post chapters/sections here for people to criticize? Would I be allowed to quote anything on the website? Could it be approved by the HCA?

We won’t tell you to write a book or not write a book. We will always be willing to answer questions and if you need resources we can point you in the right direction, be it anecdotal accounts or scientific literature

Full collaborations take trust however. Could we work together on an official book? Maybe one day. We don’t know each other very well right now though, so it’ll take a bit before any of us admins are comfortable putting our names on your work

Thank you! I'll consider the book idea (whether or not I'll make one) some more before I make a final decision...

I decided I'll wait to write a book on hermit crab care for a couple years, because I only just got my crabs. I want to make sure I know how to take care of them well before I try telling someone else how to take care of their crab well :)

That’s probably a good idea, you’ll feel a lot more confident once you’ve been doing it for a few years
