sorry, i didnt mean to sound negative about it. Just that coconuts and hermits are a whole different ball game.

If it helps there species survive or increases our knowlage of them then it can only be a good thing.
(just keep your fingers away from the pinchy bits!)

Holy Mackaral.......gargantuan crabs!!! I've never seen them for sale, but I can only assume you can get them SOMEWHERE.

I don't think I would ever try to keep one....I suppose it'd be like Jedediah said, and you'd have to give him a room all his own! Which I probably will never have room for....and I've been crabbing for two years and I still don't even feel ready for Straws!

Unless you can breed them, keeping them won't do a thing for preservation and as far as I know Birgus latro hasn't been bred in captivity yet.
