wow! If it turns out she actually has one then where can she give the information she obtains from actually owning one to? I'm asking because right now not much is known, so any knowledge she can gather from having one will be greatly beneficial to the research on this species. Does anyone have a source that she may be able to get in contact with to help further develop the research on them?

I would swear I remember reading last winter that someone Tony? knew/knew of was attempting to do just that. And He wasn't exporting from Japan.

Has anyone ever found a cite stating they are endangered ( in Japan or anywhere else? )

This whole time, I thought there were only 11 known species! From reading their habitats, it would seem that every warm coast in the world has at least one land hermit crab species that lives there :).

It would be nice if exotic hermit crabs were treated like reptiles, in the sense that interested owners had to work for a license to own them (I've heard some owners say that their proper care is very similar to reptiles like Iguanas anyway).

Strange......If I'm not mistaken, C scaevola looks alot like a pale C variabilis.
