That looks a little like Sandy's BP after a recent molt:

Image

She's still acting normal, climbing and active and eating, but has that weird patch on her BP. She is a small/medium PP. Infection? :freak:

Yeah, looks about the same to me..... Albeit not quite as bad. I haven't done the medicinal baths yet. So far its just been soaks in double strength Instant Ocean water and then covering it with honey (which he tends to eat off faster than I can slather it on! haha)

But I think it's already looking a little improved. I'll get pics today before his soak and compare!

Sandy is so small I don't know if I can do the treatments to her pincher, mainly because it is smaller than my finger & she is shy, do you think I should do anything?

That's good that he's looking better! :angel7:

Besides treating the infected crab, PLEASE be checking other crabs for signs of infection. Bacterial infections can be contagious. I don't mean to be a scare monger, but speaking from a personal experience in which I lost almost an entire tank full of crabs it can spread. I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone!

Where does the bacteria come from? Is it in the sand, the air, or what?

Should I treat Sandy, or ISO her?
I have an extra KK and 10 gallon tank... should I put honey and salt water on her pincher, or is it not that bad?

Wow, I haven't been on here in so long...
Sandy has long since gotten better, and hopefully that other crab's pincher has too! :)

To me, it kind of seems like a bruise. Maybe something happened to the pincher when the crab was still soft?

Crabber, I'm out of date with my crabbing, but I haven't had any get a bacterial infection. If, lets say, Faenauliel hadn't been treating his crab, the crab wouldn't die, would it?

Hopefully, it won't spread.
