In order for your crabs to molt healthily they need to be able to bury themselves completely and make caves under the substrate and tunnel so 6 inches minimum. Also hermits can't fly and love to climb, so filling up the empty space in your tank would be a great idea!! if they're having a hard time just climbing over shells they may be sluggish and I see you don't have gauges in your tank for temperature and humidity believe me you NEED that since hermits are very sensitive to those things.

Ditto on the more substrate. It's been a couple days, how are things now?


Crabbing for 2 years-still obsessed! 6 total crustacean kids. Gave up trying to tell them apart but I love them all.
My clan consists of-4 PP's: Paul, Juan, Salt & Pepper. 3 E's: Harry Houdini, Sarge and RIP Gary-lost during a molt. A Yorkie-Joey, Orange Tabby-Milo
