Tall tank layer ideas!

Post by cassiedj » Sat Aug 01, 2015 1:50 am

Hello all!

So, today my crabitat literally shattered after a fiasco with trying to get it out of its home to replace the sand. This means I get to upgrade to a larger tank!

I am likely going to be getting a tank that is more tall than it is wide, so I will have to utilize the height into levels. I'm wondering if you guys could give me tips or point me to old threads with information on this type of thing since I want to create a second level ASAP.

Thanks!!

haha; yay for broken tanks! Wished that would work in my household; the hammer would become my best friend.
"What? It just broke! Time to upgrade to the 5000g tank..."

If you're looking for some quick ideas; I suggest looking into the DIY subforum or typing words like "Second level" "levels" "Stories" into the search box in the top right hand corner.

Many use the "old" suction cup shower caddies; nets; plastic racks (like a locker tidier eg) just to name a few easy to reach ideas. Or if you feel a bit more crafty some PVC pipes; a platform (like egg crate lined with moss/small totes/plastic boxes)!
Pretty much you can go wild!

The shelving for organizing cabinets is pretty handy too...can get several styles that have 2-3 shelves. They're metal but coated in that white rubbery plastic stuff.

If you've got time, dig randomly through some of the forums on here...there are TONS of cool (and cheap!) things people have done to maximize space in their tanks I spent like 3 hours one morning bopping around and came out with my head spinning.
