I'm so sorry she didn't make it! We were really rooting for her to pull through. You absolutely gave Bug the best fighting chance possible. You should feel good about all you did for her.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I just keep thinking what went wrong? I should have fed her more calcium, I think maybe that's why she didn't appear to harden up? I'm not sure how that works or what type of nutrients are needed to help with that process. I'm open to any thoughts or suggestions on what could have caused the lack of color on her new exo and why it did not appear to get harder.

it's possible with all the limbs she had to recreate that there just wasn't enough nutrients in her to go around. It's very possible there was no chance to recover from that no matter how much you fed her.

Poor Bug! I was really hoping she would make it, but I guess the damage was too great. You gave it your best shot, and took excellent care of her, and she seemed to know you were trying to help. ((((HUGS))))

How many days before you tried to move her? When I had that surface molter that was attacked it was a good three or four days before her exoskeleton had hardened up and stopped being rubbery, which shocked me since every other crab I've seen that molted hardened up much faster.

I'm so sorry you lost her. E's tend to have a much harder time molting than other crabs unfortunately.

I am truly sorry about your loss. These little guys really get to our hearts don't they? You did all you could to make her comfortable.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I had the same thing happen. She only made it past day two after molting. I was and am still upset. I know it's hard. We try our hardest and what ever we do seems to be of little to no help in the end.
