Why do you have pets you can't even play with!?

Thats kind of dumb... they aren't like dogs or cats and have personalities or anything...

I know! People are always amazed when I tell them each of my crabs has a very distinct personality...sometimes it's the only way to tell who's who when they're all wearing green turbos !

Seriously! I think most if not all animals have a distinct personality. It's up to us to take the time to get to know it and them if it's not as obvious.

My niece the other day asked me which of my crabs is "the mean one." I point out one of my PP who is kind of a jerk. She informed me she likes mean things and he was her favorite... Yet another crab related comment I had no idea how to respond to.

I'm such an arachnophobe even looking at pictures of spiders gives me chills but, for some reason, hermit crabs have never looked spidery to me.

My first E was very spidery but as he got bigger he lost that image. He was so fast and moving sideways at angles backwards and everything. Freaked me out. Spiders terrify me.

People always ask me if I want rat poison for birthdays/Christmas because I have a pet rat :roll: its annoying, and they tell me to kill her like all the time.

And my dad doesnt understand why I want a hermit crab, but he'll come around (Hes a major perfectionist, so he wants me to get a 55 gallon, and I almost have him to the point were he wants to help me build a custom insert and such for the crabs so that it "looks nice and clean". Hopefully his perfectionist side takes over so the crabs can be spoiled).

Gma: honey, they wouldn't even fill you up

Gpa: Appetizers then, with the little tooth picks
Me: I give them raw meat all the time (not true) so they'll probably give you salmonella since they're immune ya know
Gpa: Nothing a good boil won't fix
Gma: giggles then covers her mouth like oops then apologized and gives my Gpa "the look" then giggles some more

My son in law asked me what I had in the new tank, I told him I got hermit crabs the day before and he asked me "on purpose?" I should have told him no, I bought a turtle but it morphed on the way home :roll:

When my crab got attacked he only have three legs and my dad started calling him tripod. He thought it was funny but it really bothered me because it was a traumatizing experience for me.

He may also have been trying to get you to laugh! One our first hermits was purchased with only three limbs, and my husband called him Tripod so I wouldn't be so upset.
