there is a point to check whether it is viola or not.
it is to see what shell they use.
generally, viola like to use long shell, it is because their abdomen is very long.

I didn't know that! So that's why my 2 Violas are in longer shells. I always wondered why they wouldn't change into something more comfortable looking.

Also because violets live in areas where long shells are abundantly found.
I know one island near Jakarta, where we can find many cavs & indos wearing sinistral land snail shells - just because they don't have more choices.

Yup ... most of my C.violascens abandoned turban shells or turnip-shaped rapas when I offered longer shells, such as spindles, whelks, or murex shells. They sometimes even prefer cone shells ( with wider openning ) or small conches (Strombus sp.) to turbans

Hello
All of this time ..I thought I had a Cav.. but geez the part about the long snail shell...That is funny because my so called Cav is wearing a long shell and will not change it!! He is still missing his BP ...it was deformed when I bought him...he tried a molt but the bp was bad again..so now he just moves around without one..and if I may add ..he is one of the most active of the bunch!! He has the fiery antennae and the red colored eye stalks!! I have been trying to find him a friend but with no luck..... Thanks for the new info!!!!!
