I found this info online at you-tube and thought that some of you may be able to use some of these techniques. I am building a 55 gallon and using the acrylic rod idea to tie stuff to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnVrdfk ... AAAAAAASAA

That's a cool idea! Suction cups are a pain!

You actually need 1/2" acrylic rods.....1/4" is too small. They will just break when you try to drill into them. The rod idea seems sooooo much safer than suction cups. I would not want anything falling off of the side of the tank and injuring any of them.

I'm liking the corner things they used to drill holes in, i think i could use that stuff to fix my uneven plexi lid

Ooo that is neat! I wonder how annoying they would be to clean off the crud after a few months...

I did something similar to this. It's pretty easy to clean really. I just take out the hermies and put them all in the iso, use a shop vac and suck up all the debris. Believe it or not the moist sand substrate stays down.

I'm making second levels out of "lizard ladders" :3 They're mesh triangles with 3 suction cups. They aren't big enough to stretch from the front to the back of the crabitat (75gal), but I zip tied the pointy end to a braided dollar store vine I have strung along the length of the tank, and stuck the other side to the glass with the suction cups. I used cholla to make a bridge up there (and I even got it to split off so one part of the cholla goes to the shell shop with the small shells~). I'm replicating it on the other side when I get the rest of the stuff in the mail :D They don't make huge second levels, but it works and its fairly cheap compared to some other second level ideas and if you combine several of them you can get a pretty big second level. They would probably work great for smaller tanks. Here's a picture of the side I have done so far.

I am playing with the idea of a critter keeper second level. The right size critter keeper holds securely to the ledges on the inner top of the tank so the lid can close. I did an iso that way. I just need to make an entrance

Hambone, I have a 230 Gallon tank I'm setting up and someone suggested checking out this post. The image isn't working for me though. Anyway you could repost or send me a link?

Thank you
