Plant in my crabitat

Okay so I have a new little seedling growing in my tank by the food.
I went to go change their food and water and noticed a plant growing in my tank. I feed a wide variety of foods for my crabs so this could be an apple tree or marigold flower or oats... Anything! Anyways I burried the little seed some more since it was above ground and watered it with dechlorinated water.
I've heard of crabitats having algae and air plants but has anyone accidentally/intentionally planted something in their tank? How did your crabs like it?

I planted some chia in eggshell pots. The crabs bulldoze through them. Kind of sad looking at bulldozed sprouts ;\
I'd like to plant a bunch of it just to be able to see crabs walking through them, with their eyes peeking out :D That would be so cute!!!

I was thinking of planting stuff too, getting a uv bulb to sustain them in my room since I never have my window open. I think a garden terrarium/crabitat is a great idea and agreed would look super cute to watch them enjoy their mini forest!!! I already have marigolds planted by the back porch so I have some fresh flowers for my hermits. I doubt they'd mind having some planted in their tank? Ideas?

Awe cute! Well I hope they eat it before it roots out because I think it's an apple tree lol My grandpa has been getting into dehydrating things with my grandma for my hermits so he sent some apple peelings here for them... Yesterday there was a seed in their food dish and today there's a sprout. But hey if it gets too big for my 10g I can always give it to my grandparents to plant somewhere on their few acres. Hermit crabapple tree XD

Whatever you plant, they will destroy. It is only a matter of time. Sprouts of anything won't get much of a start, since full grown plants get demolished in days, depending on the size and appetite of your crew!

hellllllooo :) so i've got some fake plants for my crabs to climb up into and perch on as well as driftwood but i figured they would eat any real plants (just like my RES turtle who LIVES TO DESTROY but with a smile on her beak). THEN i thought about these succulents that grow quite happily in sandy-coconut substrate...but how would i know if aloe is toxic OR dangerous to crabbies. what do y'all think?

i have all three of these plants but probably a gazillion of the aloe plant on the left and that's the one i was thinking of using...

My water conditioner has a slime coat made of aloe, so I'm guessing the plant itself is safe.
Anybody else know for sure?

my crabs are going to have a luxurious healthy exoskeleton if they start eating the aloe plants  i think i'm going to macrame a rope ladder for them too. is untreated hemp alright? i only ask because it smells funny...like petroleum or something very strange. i've let it air our for awhile and it seems alright but who knows what lurks beneath that hemp-y surface?!

I also read somewhere you can run it through your washing machine on hot, with no soap, and it works great.
