HCA: Hermit Crab Association

Hello, I just adopted some Hermit crabs from a garage sale down here in Houston, Tx and I noticed that one of their crabs was a E while the rest were PP's. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get more E's so that this guys isn't so lonely. Thanks!

I realize not all of the stores carry them, but my local Petco has Es!

I've been to 5 Petco locations and 3 Petsmart locations and all they have are PP's I'm not sure if any local mom & pop petstores have hermies though.... usually its just fish or certain reptiles and birds.

Keep an eye out in the adoption section and you could also make a post in your location's thread saying you're looking to adopt an E buddy. I never see Es in the Petcos and Petsmarts around here either. Your best bet may be another adoption.

Most of the pet supermarkets I've been to have nothing but e's.

My E does well with my PPs. He will hopefully adjust.

It's always best to give them a species buddy, assuming you have enough space.

You guys are lucky then if you can find them, seems like we have nothing but PP's here. My E just surfaced today from his hide and is busy exploring the tank. He doesn't seem to go near the other PP's in the tank. I just adopted a E through someone on the forum and they'll be shipped out this Monday and should arrive on Tuesday. Is it also bad to say that I prefer how active the E's are compared to the PP's? .

I too love the E's personality! I have 4 and they were great. Well, until the big one kills a molter. But that seems to have calmed down. They love being hand fed too.

I'll try the hand feeding eventually this guy just finished distressing so I'll let him adjust a bit more.
