How do I pick out a good hermit crab?

Post by Hermitcrablover135 » Tue Jul 21, 2015 10:48 pm

Next week I am getting two hermit crabs. I want to make sure they are active, happy, and healthy. How to I tell? :)

Healthy: They're colors will be vibrant at not pale
Active: You can't exactly tell if they're active because they are are nocturnal but I guess whichever one is walking around the tank the most is active.
Happy: Hermit crabs won't be happy in a petstore

There is no way to know if they'll be able to adjust to life in captivity. Even hermits that seem alright can suddenly take a turn for the worse before their first molt. It's a rough trip and they are wild animals, and not all survive. Keep in mind also that a lot of activity is often a sign of stress and panic.
